ContractClear Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 July 2026

ContractClear is a Chrome extension that explains English-language contracts in the reader's own language. This policy describes exactly what it does with the text and files you give it.

What is sent off your device

When you press Analyze contract or Translate contract, the extension sends the following to the ContractClear API, a Cloudflare Worker operated by the developer:

The API forwards the contract content to Google's Gemini API to produce the explanation or translation, and returns the result to your browser.

Nothing is sent until you press one of those buttons. Selecting text, opening the side panel, or capturing a page does not transmit anything on its own.

What is stored

On your device

On the server

Contract content is not stored on the server. It is held in memory only for the duration of the request, is never written to a database, and is never written to logs. Server logs record request outcomes — status codes, error categories, response sizes — and never contract text.

Google Gemini

Contract content is processed by the Google Gemini API under Google's paid-tier terms, which state that submitted data is not used to train Google's models. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google APIs Terms of Service and the Gemini API Additional Terms.

Google may retain submitted content for a limited period for abuse monitoring, as described in those terms. ContractClear has no access to that retained copy and cannot delete it on your behalf.

Payments

Subscriptions are sold and processed by Paddle, acting as the merchant of record — Paddle is the seller on your receipt and is responsible for sales tax and VAT. ContractClear never sees or stores your card details. Paddle tells us your subscription status and the email address you used at checkout, so that Pro can be restored on another device. See Paddle's privacy policy.
